About Us
The Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners (LSBPSE) was created by the Louisiana Legislature in 1984, with the Board and its administrative agency established in 1985. The LSBPSE is responsible for regulating Louisiana’s private security industry and promoting professionalism, accountability, and public safety by establishing and enforcing industry standards. The Board oversees the qualification and licensing of private security companies and instructors, administers security officer registrations, establishes and monitors required training, and enforces applicable statutes and rules.
Through regulation and oversight, LSBPSE works to ensure security officers, instructors, and companies are properly qualified, receive state and federal background checks, are trained, and are accountable.
The LSBPSE is guided by a Governor-appointed Board and supported by a professional agency staff led by an Executive Director appointed by the Board. Together, they oversee licensing, registration, training, and compliance while advancing professionalism, accountability, and public safety across Louisiana’s private security industry.
