Instructor Observations & Training Oversight
The LSBPSE Compliance Unit conducts classroom observations to promote consistent, high-quality training and ensure instructors follow Board-approved standards. These observations help identify opportunities for improvement, provide guidance, and support instructors in delivering effective security officer training.
What to Expect During an Observation
Compliance investigators may evaluate:
- Instructor Licensing: Verification of current instructor credentials and authorization to teach.
- Approved Curriculum: Proper use of Board-approved S.O.S.T. curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
- Training Delivery: Review of instructional methods, classroom activities, and student engagement.
- Training Documentation: Review of applicable attendance records and required course documentation.
- Compliance Guidance: Identification of areas for improvement and opportunities to strengthen instructional practices.
Supporting Instructor Success
LSBPSE's 2026 classroom observation initiative is designed to support instructors transitioning to the S.O.S.T. curriculum. Instructors will be contacted to coordinate an observation and provided with an observation checklist in advance.
The 2026 observations are supportive in nature and do not affect instructor license renewal eligibility or result in fines.
The Compliance Unit works collaboratively with instructors to provide constructive feedback, clarify expectations, and strengthen training standards throughout Louisiana.
